Update

Hi folks, just a quickie. I'm sorry for the delay in getting further artwork finished. I'm sure most of you (and you blog host Mr. Analog Loyalist) are getting antsy. I do want to see this project through to completion, as this is a labor of love, but unfortunately it's not my day job, and sometimes life intervenes. I'll try and make some solid progress over the next few days.

  1. What if you posted the audio without the art and let us get the art from Vulgar Picture ourselves? Surely its the audio that's important, not the artwork.

  2. You are a *great* man just for thinking about us given the silly season coupled with life's other little distractions.

Very much looking forward to the tunes as soon as you are able. Happy Holidays!

  3. Nice to know there's somebody still home...in your own time, we can wait.

  4. @my fellow co-host... I didn't even know you posted! I should read my own blogs more often ;)

What he said....or should that be "What she said"

  5. @Brian: I understand your point, but just as the Smiths never released official releases in plain, generic label sleeves, neither will this blog. It's all part and parcel of the same thing, and believe me, 50 Pound Note is ace at that side of the process. I haven't seen his work product for the next batch of singles, but if it's anything like what he's done for the NO/JD Recycle, and the first couple posts here, it will be WELL worth the wait. I'm as excited to see it as you guys are!

  6. I agree with the above comment. "If a thing's worth doing..." and all that. Not to say the waiting isn't a subtle torture, of course.

This is a noble exercise. The owners of the Smiths back catalogue have kept us waiting for over two decades, so a few short months won't kill us. If only the rights holders had a tenth of the gumption and love bestowed upon the band by the creators of this blog. While they sit on their fat backsides getting excited by some newly signed derivative fourth rate chancers it's left to those in charge here to curate some of the most significant music in the history of popular music.

Shame on the copyright holders for their indolence, and God bless the freedom fighters!

  7. @Our Co-hosts - Thanks for the update, and here's another vote for the 'if a job's worth doing...' camp.

I was a huge fan of the JD/NO Recycle, and having already been blown away by the first two Smiths releases, I for one know that the wait is going to be worth it. After all, considering Morrissey placed such emphasis & effort on the artwork it would be a travesty if this restoration didn't do the same.
